If you have stopped to look at this photo, you might wonder what an elephant has to do with therapy or why you might decide to choose me to be your therapist. 

So let’s address the elephant in the room …

African elephants are the largest land mammals on our planet.  As a species, they form life long attachments to one another.  It’s not uncommon for a female elephant to nurture elephant calves that aren’t their own.

Elephants “never forget.”  They communicate extremely well with one another and send messages via their feet over long distance.  Their rumblings are often heard for many miles, especially when they are distressed. Elephants are playful as well as resilient. 

I admire these characteristics in these intelligent beings and believe that we humans could learn a lot in our own relationships from elephants.

What keeps you awake or worried in the middle of the night?  Do you feel alone or unable to find solutions to your problems?  Do you want better relationships?  Are you struggling or in emotional pain?  Has a traumatic event made you feel anxious or depressed?  Do you want to improve the quality of your life?

When we are in distress or emotional pain, we tend to lose sight of our resilient natures. We forget how to have fun, experience joy or communicate with one another.
